Crumb is designed so the intimate notes you keep about the people you love stay on your device and never leave it. This policy explains, in plain English, exactly what the app does and does not do with your data.

The short version

Nothing you put into Crumb leaves your phone.

 There is no server, no account, no cloud sync, and no analytics.

– The developer (CKC Technologies) never sees any of the people, occasions, crumbs, or photos you save.

– The only third party involved is Apple, and only when you make an in-app purchase.

What Crumb stores, and where

Everything you enter – people’s names, occasions, crumbs, photos, notes – is written to a single JSON file inside Crumb’s own private folder on your device. You can find and delete it at any time by uninstalling the app, which permanently erases everything Crumb has stored.

Nothing in that file is transmitted anywhere.

Permissions Crumb may ask for

Crumb only requests permissions it uses, and only when you tap the feature that needs them.

Contacts – Requested when you tap “Import from Contacts” while adding a person. Crumb reads a single contact you pick, copies their name and any birthday, and writes them into local storage. Nothing is uploaded. If you never tap that button, Crumb never touches your Contacts.

Photo library – Requested when you tap “Add a photo” on a crumb. Crumb receives the single photo you pick, resizes it, and stores the result inside its own local file. It doesn’t scan the rest of your library.

Notifications – Local notifications only, delivered by the operating system on your device. Crumb doesn’t send push notifications from a server (it has no server).

You can revoke any of these permissions at any time in the iOS Settings app under Privacy & Security.

In-app purchase

Crumb offers a one-time purchase called Crumb Pro. Purchases go through Apple’s StoreKit and the App Store. Apple handles payment and the record of your purchase. Crumb receives only a signal from Apple confirming whether the entitlement is unlocked on your Apple ID – no payment details, no personal information.

Analytics, tracking, and advertising

Crumb contains no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising SDKs, no marketing pixels, and no attribution frameworks. The app does not track you across other apps or websites in any way, so Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt is not shown.

Third parties

The only third party Crumb interacts with is Apple – for the App Store, in-app purchase, and delivery of local notifications by the operating system. Crumb does not send data to any other company or service.

Children

Crumb is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone. Because it collects no data at all, no personal information about children (or anyone else) is ever transmitted or stored off-device.

Your data, your control

Because Crumb only stores data locally:

– To export your data: use iOS’s built-in device backup (iCloud Backup or Finder backup) – Crumb’s data is included as part of the app’s backup.

– To delete your data: delete the app, or use the in-app controls to remove individual people, crumbs, or occasions.

No request to the developer is necessary or possible, because we don’t have any of it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes (for example, if a future version of Crumb adds an optional cloud-sync feature), the updated policy will be published at the same URL and the “Last updated” date at the top will change. Any change that would materially affect what happens to your data will be surfaced inside the app before it takes effect.
