Your journal is personal, so Echo Journal treats it that way. Your voice entries stay on your iPhone and are never uploaded to the cloud. Transcription happens on your device, and Face ID keeps your entries locked away from anyone else. There's a calm dark interface and very few notifications. It's just you and your thoughts.

Getting started
What is echo journal?
It’s a voice journal for iPhone. You speak your entries instead of writing them, and the app transcribes them for you.
What devices does it work on?
It works on iPhone with iOS 17 or later, Macs with Apple silicon running macOS 14 or later, and Apple Vision Pro with visionOS 1 or later.
Do i need an account?
No. Open the app and start recording.
Recording & Transcription
How long can each entry be?
Free entries can be up to 30 seconds. Unlimited Recording removes that limit.
Can i search my old entries?
Yes. Every entry is transcribed automatically, so you can search for any word you said.
How does mood tagging works?
After recording, tap the mood that fits your day. It’s quick and optional.
Time Capsules & Reflections
What is time-capsule playback?
Echo Journal brings back past entries at meaningful intervals, so you can hear what you were thinking earlier on.
What is a reflection?
A reflection is a new recording made in response to an old entry. You can use it to note what’s changed or what you’ve learned since then.
Privacy & Security
Where are my recordings stored?
On your iPhone. Your voice entries aren’t stored in the cloud.
Is my voice sent anywhere to be transcribed?
No. Transcription happens entirely on your device.
Can I lock the app?
Yes. Turn on Face ID so only you can open your journal.
